Launch of a new project: the carbon footprint
A carbon footprint is a way for a company or an individual to assess its impact on the environment and take the necessary measures. In the current climate, the importance of carbon footprints is clear: they are a real tool for limiting greenhouse gas emissions.
Sustainable development has been an integral part of Steritech’s DNA for many years. Following the creation of a climate Fresk last year, Steritech has now embarked on a new project: the creation of its carbon footprint.
What is a carbon footprint?
A carbon footprint is a diagnostic tool that analyses direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions. For Steritech, this involves measuring the emissions of all its activities.
The carbon footprint enables us to structure and manage our climate strategy, by analysing the source of emissions and setting achievable and consistent reduction targets in the short and long term.
Steritech’s carbon footprint: the main steps
| In July 2023, Steritech initiated the project with the “Association Initiatives durables”, a CSR support incubator for companies in the Grand Est region, the “Agence de la transition écologique” and the” Banque publique d’investissement” (Bpi).
The launch was followed by a campaign to raise awareness among our employees, running from August to December 2023.
Then, we worked on collecting and centralising data on our energy and gas consumption, travel, waste, use of our machines, etc.At the same time, the “Initiatives durables” association has started to analyse the data.
In December 2023, we’ll be able to see the results, and the equivalent of 85 circumnavigations of the earth by plane! The good news is that there are plenty of opportunities to reduce our emissions.
